The sea and coastline may bring to mind special memories of outings in the summer,  childhood holidays or simply taking a stroll alongside the sea. We all have our preferred coastal bays, ocean views and sandy beaches.

As we reminisce about these times, Summer 2011 has witnessed a trend which has been reinvented and has crept into the greetings, homeware and kitchenware industry once again. We notice a collective buzz involving blue stripes, lighthouse designs and the patriotic ‘red, blue and white’ colour schemes. Image Source have a range of images available which provide a cute nostalgic feel including: -  Beach hut patterns and boats by Paulo Viveiros, Lighthouses by Louise Rawlings and new artist, Anna Platts.  Abstract nautical scenes can be viewed in the Emma Freeman portfolio plus much, much more. Traditional coastal scenes are available from artists Rob Fathers, Christopher Osborne and Tony Ryan with Contemporary artworks being displayed by Nicola Gregory.

Sue Reeves from Image Source Art Licensing has created designs for those who are looking for something that little bit different – and nothing can go unnoticed in this range. Sue has used an assertive use of colour and pattern in her designs which fits in perfectly with her style for opulent floral prints. The style is flawlessly in line with this years trend which is found in high street stores such as John Lewis, Debenhams, House of Fraser.

The trend is to create a bright, bold look with Colour Clash. The palettes are bursting with clashing tones – pinks and corals, blues and greens. It’s time to throw out all the old colour rules and mix bold brights for maximum impact.

Image Source Art Licensing welcomes a new artist to its portfolio, Karen Smith. Karen lives in Leicestershire with her husband Glenn, and Blossom the cat. She has been designing greeting cards with huge success for over 20 years. Today, Karen is still enjoying designing fresh creatives. Her luminous floral images can only be described as rich in energy and colour, whether through a cluster of flowers or a single floral design.

We asked Karen what inspired and energised her art creatives?

“I get inspiration from different fabrics, sculpture, and books on past and present artists.” writes Karen. Painting predominantly in watercolour Karen is able to produce some vibrant garden designs packed with colour and variety. With a fine eye for detail Karen is able to produce some beautiful floral imagery which can be used in many aspects of the greeting card collections.

” I’m looking forward to experimenting with new techniques, creating new designs that have that contemporary feel, and are rich in detail”

We hope you enjoy browsing Karen’s portfolio and keep checking www.image-source.co.uk website for a wide selection of art available to license.

In June, Olympic Day is officially celebrated all around the world. Hundreds of thousands of people – young and old – participate in sporting activities, from a brisk walk to a fierce competition to cheering in the stands. Such activity is noticed by artists from Image Source Art Licensing who are using these influences in their creativity for greetings cards and wrapping paper. We will shortly see an underlying Olympic themed visual language coming through with a real sense of national pride and are really excited to see how popular it will become.
